Anthropologist are the most verbose people on the PLANET.
Ever read a twenty page paper that basically says Fire is good for Food? I CAN SAY THAT IN A PARAGRAPH. And it would take a page to give a bit more detail, but STILL.
GARGH.

If none of my sources say anything about woad's, um, "other properties," does that mean I can use it in my project?
I may need to look into materials that I can tattoo. I mean, the best to mimic living human skin are chicken and pig, but I don't want to use a test material that will, ya know, go bad before the project is over. It also means that if I go into the items used for creating the tattoos themselves and wear patterning, well, my experimentals will be moldy and eww.
So, I'm thinking some type of natural leather may work as a mimic for human skin. Since, well, we can't do anything illegal, or major risks to others. You can chop off your own finger attempting hard hammer, but you can't infect someone with your project. Also, no absinthe. Makes me glad that no one, I think, is gonna do cooking. Especially acron bread. Ick.
Why couldn't I have gone the simple experimental route and, like, carved a fish hook or something?
Although, at least me twenty page will remain interesting to me, at least.
In other news, I think I may have bombed my Primate Ev quiz. God damn you tarsiers and being able to jump like golden age superman.

GORILLAS USE TOOLS.
Fucking awesome. I mean, it always was weird that they didn't seeing as the split between Gorillas and Chimps was 7 myr, and Chimps and Hominins was, like, 6 myr. It's like, finally.
ALSO, new subspecies of Gorilla. I'm fairly sure it's lowland, but I'm not sure. I mean, we all can't be as cool as Gorilla gorilla berengei.
ALSO, FOSSIL CHIMP. Not ramidus fossil chimp either, a "real" fossil chimp.
And, chimp genome.
And, and, and...Neandertal genome, 2010(?). SQUEE.

To prove that, YES, I do have schoolworks.
-I just wrote up the most craptastic project proposal for my seminar. I mean, god, it's awful. I haven't done any research, haven't talked to my prof for fear of being run over or glared at, and my TA just wants me to poke people with thorns. All in all, I see a repeat of GIS, except this time I do die, because I tattooed myself with something not of the good.
-I'm still all bouncy over the Leakey thingy. I mean, dude, it was on Out of Africa I. Which is so much more interesting than Out of Africa II, unless you're talking about North Africa and H. antecessor, which yes I have a strange obsession with. But, but, but. They had the site director of DMANISI. Fucking DMANISI, with it's fucking beautiful 1.8 myr 'erectus' and the weird mandbile and GEORGIA, and just GUH. And JAVA and CHINA and INDIA and OMG LOVE. And MAEVE spoke. And I love that woman's mind. And I can now say that I had beers at a reception with RICHARD LEAKEY, which is like even more bonus points than my being SB anthro. And, GUH, it was SO AWESOME.
-I've been considering going over to the dark side, Physical. Why? Because antecessor rocks my socks so much. And, come on people, the Levant is not the only way to disperse out of Africa. Honestly.
-I have a quiz in primate ev tomorrow, and I am going to bomb it. It's on the extant anthropoids, minus the apes. Oh joy. Both NWM and OWM.
-Tomorrow is pigment lab in prim tech, so my survival rate will be increased. Dacite hurts like a fuck when it gets stuck in your finger, and, well, FIRE.
-120 still is a joke. So bloody easy.
-I need to read, like, two books over the break for Med. It shouldn't be too hard, since they're both ethnographies, and those aren't hard reads by any means of the imagination. They tend to be either laughable or interesting, or some strange combination of both. Gods, cultural anthropologists amuse me.
I've been thinking about my passions lately, which proves that I should go to sleep much earlier. Anyway, I think that I have two. Anthropology and comics. Sad as it is, that's them. Both are things that I can talk about obscure topics for several hours. Anyone who knows me, knows that this is true. I mean, how long have Woman and I ranted about the Aten or PF and I about the super-penis.

I have Sicilian blood and take my revenge like a Klingon.
I also take much pleasure in any revenge I do fulfill.
I'm not a bad person. Just Celtic, Roman and Sicilian.

So, I return to SB in a few hours. Where I will go to class, and maybe work, in between writing porn and watching anime, with some role playing and pestering people mixed in. Oh joy.
And yes, I am bringing my awesome Indiana Jones hat and the almond wine.

I think I'm gonna go write some anime smut now in celebration. Or sleep, then write the smut. Mmmm...Oishi/Kaidoh crack.

In the legal, costs money, translation of Hikaru no Go (because I buy manga, mainly for the same reason I buy comics, they're nicer in your hands than on a computer screen), they not only use the word 'kibitz' but also DEFINE it.

So, I have to pay livejournal again. Ick. I guess I'll do that later this week or something.
I spent the weekend, aka that time when I was online for less than 12 hours a day, at my aunt's place in Jersey. The only real semi-highlight of that was our trip to Seaside, but we had to leave early due to rain and sandstorm, so I wasn't able to bask in the one place on earth where I am the norm. Oh well.
I've also decided on one of my ICON cosplays, gods am I pathetic. ANYWAY, I'll be doing An from PoT. Got the little tennis-skirt-thing-y for cheap and less than they were supposed to sell it for at Seaside. Go boobies!
I forgot what else I was going to say. Oh well. MONKEY.

Oi, woman, we should make that community for arch icons. I fear that my Eye Idol ones are not properly understood when used in conjunction with anime.
At some point next week I have to take my moron brother into the City. Apparently the directions, "Get on the Ferry. At the Ferry terminal get on the Red Line, Get off at 28th" are too confusing. So, I'm just gonna drag him around after I show him where FIT is, and possibly confuse him. Not that I care, he's probably going to take the X's in anyway.
I NEED comics, but lack the gas to drive to my store. Life sucks for Truck.

Monkeys have stolen my soul. See, you can blame them for me being soulless.
Gods, I hate the MTA right now. Fuckers.
Apparently, HP fandom is imploding. Which makes me, the evil person that I am, laugh and want to restart MagieMelange, just to fuck with them even more. Let's see if they do an LotR.
It makes me glad that my fannish interests have moved from HP into the anime realms. Tenipuri is much more fun, and cracked. :nods: Not that I'm ever really part of any fandom, I'm a certified lurker. Most of the time.
I need to figure out my cosplays for Icon. I know that one is gonna be from Bleach, but I'm not sure who (ie unsure if I want to put the effort into a -vice-captain). My boobs are too big to ever pass as a male, and I don't think I'm the type to do too well cosplaying the tiny, pretty things. I want one cosplay at least mostly done by the end of the summer, because I don't know how much free time I'm going to have.
And I think thats enough incoherent ramblings for now, I'm gonna watch HnG.

Dear Darling Discovery Channel:
There is a major difference between Bull sharks and OCEANIC WHITE-TIPS. They are not interchangeable. You cannot say Bull shark and show images of an Oceanic White-tip. If you're looking to make the Bull shark more frightening, which is pointless by the way, at least use something less..OCEANIC WHITE-TIP. The coast of Florida is not the middle of the fucking ocean.
This makes poor Arke bash her head against things.

Every year that I have lived in my house, since I was four years old, there has been a major accident every summer.
Three years ago two cars were drag racing along my block, one went out of control and into a power pole. The driver was unharmed, the three year old girl in the car with him died.
Two years ago a transformer blew under a 1970s Ford. I still have some pieces of melted concrete from that.
Last year a car smashed into the back of my truck. My truck was parked, and the driver of the other car went through the turn too fast.
This year, just this night sometime between 6:30 and 7pm, a car crashed into the power pole attatched to my house. It then careened along the brick wall of the high school across the street, finally ending when it encountered the street light. Nobody in the car was harmed.
The power pole, though, came down. It snapped off at it's base and again in the middle, all wires still attached. The only reason I have power right now is because ConEd rerouted the power in the houses that were out, everything from my house down the block till the next major street, to a still working line.
The driver of the car claims he was driving 35 mph and there was a car heading straight towards him. My brother, who watched it happen, denies this. As does the woman who was waiting at the light.
There were more cops than I had ever seen in my life because the School Security officer, after multiple calls, told dispatch that there was an explosion in the school.
